The meeting with the IT community, convened by Deputy Governor Alexander Ruppel, addressed challenges and opportunities for the advancement of the industry.
The event was attended by specialists from regional departments, including the Department of Informatisation and Communications, the Department of Business Development and Foreign Economic Activity, employees from local IT companies, representatives of the Association of Digital Development of the Krasnodar Region, leading universities, and business support organisations.
«The Krasnodar Region is a leader in digital transformation. Currently, we have over 2,000 organisations collectively employing over 18,500 people, which is almost twice as many as in 2019. An extensive business support infrastructure has been developed in Kuban, and a set of federal and regional support measures have been implemented. However, the development of the real sector of the economy is impossible without innovation. I am confident that the collaborative efforts of the state, business, and the scientific community will enable us to achieve our most ambitious goals and advance the digitalisation of all sectors of the Kuban economy to a new level,» said Alexander Ruppel.
One of the key issues addressed during the meeting was government’s support measures for the IT industry in Kuban.
«The demand for IT products by Kuban companies on the market is reflected in their revenue figures. Over five years, it has grown almost fourfold. Tax revenues from the IT and communications sector grew by 60 per cent between 2019 and 2024, while investment increased 1.2 times. This was achieved, among other things, due to the implementation of support measures at the federal and regional levels,» said Stanislav Zavalny, Acting Head of the Department of Informatisation and Communications of the Krasnodar Region.
In Kuban, a 70% investment tax deduction was introduced in 2022, enabling IT businesses to save 621.2 million roubles over three years. These funds will be allocated toward the development of companies, including their expansion and modernisation.
The participants of the meeting thoroughly discussed the interaction between educational institutions and potential employers. Joint projects will offer students the opportunity to acquire sought-after practical skills and ensure their competitiveness in the labour market.
«In 2026, about 160 students will be admitted to the Artificial Intelligence Centre at Kuban State University. We are interested in forming industrial partnerships with regional IT organisations that could participate in the educational process, provide practical problems, and offer internships. We hope that they will provide assistance to our graduates in securing employment in the future,» said Artem Yeremin, a leading researcher at the Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics, and Informatics at Kuban State University.
